Where to eat in Atocha & Delicias

The Atocha and Arganzuela area is more residential than touristy, so prices drop and neighbourhood bars with a menú del día are everywhere. Useful if you arrive by train, leave the Reina Sofía or spend the day at Madrid Río and Matadero.
What to order
- A squid sandwich next to the station.
- A set lunch menu in Delicias or Palos de la Frontera.
- Something casual at the Matadero cafés.

Tips
- If you are catching a train from Atocha, eat in the surrounding streets rather than in the station: cheaper and better.
- Check the calendar: the Mercado de Motores at the Railway Museum has food stalls one weekend a month.
