Puerta del Sol
The geographic and symbolic centre of Spain, starting point for any walk.

Puerta del Sol takes its name from one of the gates in Madrid’s old town wall. It is kilometre zero of Spain’s radial roads and the square where millions of people watch the New Year’s Eve chimes on TV.
Almost fully pedestrianised, it connects with the shopping streets of Preciados, Carmen, Arenal and Mayor and is the centre’s main transport hub.
